Country Music Marketing Campaign

For this project, my group was assigned the genre of country music. I was not there the first day of the project but the next class, my team caught me up and explained what the project was and what they had been thinking. We were given the choice of four songs and with the one we chose, we would have to produce a music video and campaign our band. To start, we chose our song ("Don't Need No" by The Punch Brothers) and started to brainstorm ideas for the video. We decided on a story-style video. I started to watch other country artists' music videos to gather inspiration. It was difficult to create a story that has never been done before but at the same time, fits the genre of country music which essentially entails alcohol and women.

We then continued with the powerpoint presentation. After reviewing the instructions, we divided the work amongst the four of us evenly and decided who would be responsible for what information. I was given four different slides. To organize all of the information, we shared a google slide to place all of our detailed information in each location. Then, we would transfer the summarized, "powerpoint style" version into our shared presentation in Canva. For about two classes, we would work on our individual slides and discuss the information we would insert. At the same time, we discussed logistics of the video and finalized our story.

After extensive research we found two different ranch locations we considered for the setting of our music video. We called Davie Ranches and Roundup Country Bar and asked if we would be able to film a school project and if so, what day would be best. Roundup was very difficult to reach but Davie Ranches told us we could and that during the week was a better time to come. After finalizing the video plans, we continued to finish the marketing campaign. I specifically worked on designing merchandise and reseaching the current marketing and distribution trendsin country music today. It was difficult to find an exact answer because many websites stated different information. Overall, this project gave me a good insight into how different music genres use different strategies specific to their style to target audiences and promote their workl.
